In Germany, an "ABE" stands for "General Operating Permit". In the context of wheels, rims or tires, this refers to a document that confirms that the respective product meets the technical requirements and safety standards to be driven on public roads in Germany. The German ABE is valid in a modified form as ECE for the whole of Europe; in Austria and Switzerland in particular, rims with ECE can normally be driven without further registration.

When purchasing new wheels, tires or rims for your vehicle, especially those that are not the manufacturer's standard size or specification, it is important to ensure that you have an ABE for them. This shows that the product has been tested and is approved for use on German roads.

Some important points regarding the ABE:

1. Legal relevance: Driving without the necessary ABE can lead to legal consequences, including fines and the loss of insurance coverage.

It is also important to note that the load capacity of the tires must be at least half the axle load. This value can be found on the type plate in the door frame.

You shouldn't skimp on good tires, especially in the case of heavy SUVs. We therefore generally recommend Tesla rims with the so-called T0 code. In the case of "T0", this is a code that stands specifically for Tesla vehicles.
