The Custom Light Show is another way to use the feature. In addition to the pre-installed option mentioned above, anyone can program their own light show at home or install and use a light show programmed by the community and fans. To do this, you need an empty USB stick that can be loaded with the files.

These fseq files must be installed on the stick. Important: There must be no other content or folders on the stick other than this light show file. Then you can insert the stick into the slot provided in the glove compartment.

There is a folder on the stick that must be called “LightShow”. This contains the files “lightshow.fseq” and “lightshow.mp3”. The latter is the song, the former is the Tesla light show.

If you want to create a Tesla light show yourself, you can do so with the open source software xLights, which Tesla itself provides.

Before use, the USB stick must be formatted to exFAT, FAT32 on the Tesla or to ext3 or ext4 on Mac OS.

Since an update in 2022, you can also start several Teslas with the same light show at the same time. This means that they all play exactly the same thing or that a slightly different light show has been programmed for each vehicle. This has huge potential for beautiful choreographies. On YouTube you can find many examples of how fans have programmed a great light show with their Tesla and then played it with many Teslas.
